Happy day, have a leap

Today is a perfect day for starting new recurring events that you don't want to recur too often.

But lunch with friends is not such an event. I think that Mabelle and I had a first time. After knowing eachother more then 20 years. And that was having lunch on leap day ;-)

Spread the love for NDSM

Amsterdam. The former shipyard NDSM has turned into an artistic hotspot. Abandoned in the early eighties of last century - artists took over the enormous spaces and created workingspace, exhibition space and started some famous activities there like Robodock. In the nineties, Eva de Klerk and some other artists/squaters-in-residence developed an ambitious plan to develop the shipyard as a cultural-creative-entrepreneurial environment and they got supported by the government.

This idea is being executed by hundreds of artists who built their own offices and workplaces.

To date the municipity of Amsterdam-Noord put the wharf up for sale and we -entrepreneurial artists and artistic entrepreneurs - are developing alternative routes to make sure that the wharf will not be confiscated by euro-signed-eyed project developers. No slash 'n burn tactics for our NDSM.

We've invited the members of the council to visit us and see the wharf through our eyes.

Guerilla Gardening

Camden, London, Ontario.

I always used to fantasize about contributing to a greener earth when spitting out an apple, orange or cherry pip. The volunteers at guerilla gardening do not fantasize but are actively cultivating green and flowery oases on neglected parcels or snips in the public space.

Which green fingers are starting this in NL?
